regular land-line phones should be spelled:

P-H-O-N-E

and cell phones should be spelled:

F-O-N-E

especially in this era when someone may
have one but not the other.

seems easier to ask:

do you have a fone?

no. but i do have a phone.

Problem is: anagrams generally undergo a proces of natural selection and culling, untill eventually one or a few words remain. When you come up with a logical alternative, or a 'good' word for something it won't work untill enough people pick it up.
So it's probably gonna be something gay like
"cell" and "phone"
*shrugs*
